I need help deciding whether or not to break up with my bf.

2020.09.04 04:38 throwaway8295015 I need help deciding whether or not to break up with my bf.

My bf and I have been together for 8 months and are LDR. I also have BPD, I don’t know if that’s worth mentioning. We met online in December and met in person for the first time in June. I only dated one person before him and it was very brief. As I’ve been stuck at home because of covid(making my mental health worse), he’s kinda been my whole world.
This past week I’ve started finding him less attractive. I looked at pictures of him that I used to love but now I see little imperfections in them.
I still think he’s attractive just not “mind blowing” like I used to. I still enjoy phone sex with him except he can say som sorta “pornoish” things during it that sounds cheesy as fuck. But overall I enjoy it and like looking at him when we do it.
I guess one of my issues is he’s very immature sometimes and I get so frustrated and wish he would act differently. I tried to talking to him about it today and he said he would never change. I don’t think I feel the same about him anymore and I’m creating a pros and cons list now whether or not to stay but I can’t decide.
Again: I also have BPD

I guess one of my issues is he’s very immature sometimes and I get so frustrated and wish he would act differently. It’s strange, he’s a lot more immature over the phone but in person he acts more mature and less crazy. Don’t get me wrong I love playing along with his jokes sometimes but sometimes he’s just annoying! I get scared he’ll make a dumb joke or be offensive or whatever. I also get scared he doesn’t respect me (mostly because of my BPD)
Everything just feels different.

[REQ] I am in a horrible situation and really need whatever help I can get! :(

Post contents

Hi there!
Okay, so I need some help. I am looking to borrow up to $1,000 but honestly I'd borrow $20 at this point because we are hurting so badly.
I will post my story below, but to not waste your time I'll give a short synopsis. I lost my job of 2 years on October 17th (ironically I left the job I originally had for the job I just lost; they recruited me). I thought I had a half of a paycheck coming yesterday, but it turns out the day we get paid is the last day of the pay period (wth?). Anyways, that was supposed to get me until my unemployment started (November 6th), but when I called unemployment because I hadn't received a determination letter they informed me that even with my employers EIN they couldn't find ANY tax information for the state of Michigan. When I asked what that meant they told me that my employer will have to be investigated and audited for tax evasion (for the state, I'm not sure if they haven't paid federal taxes...I didn't think to ask). I asked how long before I would actually see any money and they told me not until the investigation was done which could take months.
So here is my problem, I don't have a job right now, I don't have a definite date I'll be receiving my unemployment (I have to call every 2 weeks, but it won't be released until after the investigation/audit), and even if I started working today I don't have a way to get to work because my vehicle is on E. My intentions are to take the first job I can get (whether it be waitressing, managing, fast food...whatever!), but I need gas money to get my by. I have court on Monday but no way to get there (60 mile round trip), and multiple doctors appointments because my fiance dislocated his knee and needs to have surgery. Not to mention my 6-year-olds birthday is on Thursday, Ugh. (Though I'm going to be entirely honest: I post on /RandomActsofbirthdays to see if I could get any help) Okay, enough with my sob story because I know everyone has one. But truthfully, I'd give any information required/wanted to borrow from someone. I'm a very honest person and can supply references!
Also, I have signed up for food stamps which goes into effect in a couple of days. I have enough dog food that I'm not worried about that (/RandomActsofPetFood was fantastic and a fellow Redditor graciously donated 2 15# bags to us!). I had two other Redditor's donate us a total of $25 (/assistance) which got us to our last court date (Thank God!). I am NOT a Reddit freeloader (please feel free to go through all of my posts and comments...You'll even see I'm doing things online to try to get some cash for now). I will do whatever is needed and pay whatever amount back to make up for it. I'm only telling you what subs I've posted on because I'd rather be completely upfront and put everything out on the table. It's the right thing to do. My concern at this point is getting to and from interviews, a job, and quite possibly our monthly bills for the next month. I'm NOT above any form of employment so as soon as I can land something I'll take it! I'd scrub toilets for minimum wage if I have to. I was hoping to make repayments every pay check until I have the entire amount paid off? Obviously I would pay interest or "fees" for the amount borrowed. :)
The reason I am asking for up to $1,000 is because ideally I would take that money, pack everything we can in our two cars, and relocate back down by what little family we do have (I don't talk to my family and my in-laws are not able to help despite wanting to so badly; It's over 200 miles one-way). We could honestly fit about everything we own in our vehicles, we have a temporary place to stay, and prior to my loss of employment I had multiple interviews and job offers so I know I can land a job right away by my in-laws. It's a much larger city and I should've taken some of the offers, but I was being picky because everything was the same pay and I only wanted to take a job if it was better money. Now I'm playing on a different ball field!
As for my job, here is what happened with that.. On Tuesday, October 14th I was brought into the office of the company I've worked for for the last 2 years (who were clients of ours at my previous job before I accepted a job with them). I was told I was being "let go" and when I asked why I was told "we just think it's time to cut ties". This was after (3 weeks prior) I was demoted without a true explanation other than "we found someone that we think may be a better fit" and told that not only did I have job security and not to worry, but that they were demoting me without a pay cut. My employer even went as far as to beg me to not leave the company and to please give it a few months to see if I liked it. I was told later that week that they felt they "wrongfully demoted" me and that they were going to move me back into my old role after they trained my replacement as a general manager. At that point nothing really changed and I continued with all of my duties as if the demotion never happened. At any rate, I was told when I was fired that I would be getting 4 weeks of severance pay because they "care a great deal" about me so long as I returned all of their property to them and later agreed to return it today. There was some confusion as to how I was going to be paid for my last week (because it was only going to be 2 days worth of pay) so I offered to finish out the week and then collect my severance pay at that point (adding that I wasn't trying to take advantage of their generosity). I got a text message that night saying "Good news! We're going to have you finish out your week! Yay!' (Oh trust me, I took a screenshot and printed it). I finished out my week, went out-of-town for an interview, and then stopped into the office today to drop off all of their belongings as we arranged. When I showed up, I waited 20+ minutes until my replacement finally hung up with me boss (about nothing work related) and handed me my termination form. At this point I had already unloaded probably $500+ of their supplies into the office. When I read the paper, they had changed their story entirely. Originally I was told that if I returned all of their belongings I would be cut a check for my severance pay once the belongings were returned and that my last weeks pay would be via direct deposit on pay day. Well, that didn't happen. I showed up and they had drawn up a termination form that said that should I accept a severance package equal to 1 months pay I would forfeit any and all unemployment benefits. It also went on to say that I had up to 5 days after acceptance to decline instead and that I had to wait until pay day for my severance pay which would be paid via direct deposit. What a joke! And the reasoning for my termination on my form says "poor performance" although the firing manager told me she felt that was "way harsh" and just an excuse.
Then, on Friday, October 31st, I called to verify I was going to be receiving unemployment benefits and to make sure I didn't need to submit any additional information. Long story short, evidentally they could not find ANY tax information for my previous employer even with the information on my W2. I asked what that meant and was told that meant they are going to be investigate and audited for tax evasion. I asked if I would be receiving my benefits even with that going on and they said no, that I would have to continue to call bi-weekly for unemployment, but no funds would be released until they investigated things further. I then asked how long that could potentially take and the SOM worker said it could take months before I would see any payments for unemployment, but was assured that once the audit was completed and they confirmed my eligibility, all of my funds that should've been released each call-in would then be paid out in one lump sum.
I apologize for the repeats, I'm just beyond stressed out, depressed, and unsure of what to do. I really don't know what else to say, but I hope that someone will understand my current situation and would be will to attempt to help. I realize that I have a HUGE strike against me with a repayment date, but as I stated I will do anything! I have a few leads on waitressing (plus I have experience) and I anticipate getting back into that. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me. The only thing I ask is not to judge me because, honestly, I'm starting to lose the ability to be optimistic. I'm very much a happy person, but this is certainly getting to me. I've never been in such a bad position with no one to help me out. Thank you so much in advance!!
[[[EDIT]]] Located in Wolverine, Michigan. Definite repayment with income taxes at the latest (April 1st). I always get $1500-$2000 back every year, but I'd make payments every check so it'll be before then.

2020.07.29 12:42 idkalotofthings What should I do with this, or should I not do anything at all?

So I'm a 17 year old guy, I turn 18 next month, and I've never dated or anything close to it. So I'm going into my first year of college and everything, but first quarter is online so I wont be meeting anyone until January. My friends, both already 18, have been wanting me to date for a while. But they never really did anything you know, they would just try to push me, but I only ever went for it once and she said no, happened in february. Like I'm basically over it now, ir hit me hard, but I think im good, kind of. Anyways, so they're always trying to get me to date, and especially now, I'm always saying so cause of covid and all and how I cant meet people. So this past sunday was my friends bday, and him and my other friend got togethor to drink and just hangout until the next day, I didnt go cause I dont really drink and I had stuff to do the next day. While they were hanging out, they called me, and started asking me a shitload of questions about my interest and all of that. And at first I didnt know what they were doing, then I get a notification on my email, and they signed me up for this app called yubo, and from my understanding I dont think it's a dating app, but everyone I've asked said it basically is one, like basically a tinder copy cat ig, but teens can use it too, idk, doesnt seem safe to me, but that's how they and other people explained it. So yeah, I just brushed it off as a joke or som, and didnt care. Like I wasnt gonna do anything with it and just gonna leave it alone. they used pictures they had of me from insta and other things. So we continued to talk, and then I heard them start yelling "let's good" and all of that, and I ask "what", and they said that a girl they swiped on, swiped on me also. And so I get a message from my friend of the screenshot of the profile, and she is really pretty, which I wasnt expecting, and then she has basically all the same interest I had and she just seemed like a genuinely cool person. And they started telling me to message her and all, since she lives near me and my age, and I just blew it off, but they kept on insisting and even gave me the info to log into the account. But it stuck to my head, like I actually started thinking about it, which I wasnt expecting to do. So yesterday, I decided I wanted to make sure she was real, cause then I was like, what if this is a bot or like a catfish or som. I find her insta, and it seems like shes completely real, I mean, there's really nothing for me to doubt it. Now, I'm contemplating if I should message or not. They're telling me to do it, but I want to but also dont know if I should, idk. Then if I do message her, wtf do I say, cause like I dont wanna just say "hey". But then, idk what to say at all or what to do, cause I've never done anything like this. Idk if I'm overthinking like I always do, or what. Like I'm seriously stuck on what to do. So if you have any advice, please tell me, like what should I do? Should I do anything? If so, what? I've never been this stuck, and I know it's not that serious, but my head is just on overdrive rn
TL;DR: friends created a dating profile for me(m17), which I was taking as a joke, and some how i matched with someone, and now idk what to do or how to start talking to her if I should
Edit: I would also like to say, I'm not good with talking to people in general, not just girls, like its. a problem I have with everyone on how to start convos or any type of messaging, I never know how to start

2020.07.27 02:14 iAmTheYeastOfTHOTS Hi, former simp here

Hello fellow teens of Reddit. It has been accepted by most that simping is frowned upon and not "chad behavior". Now I'm not defending simps since i do believe it's shameless and not how any relationship should be built off of. However as the title states, I am a recovered simp. Now I'm here today to tell you what goes through the mind of someone who simps. So I will be listing somethings that someone in a simp SOM (state of mind) would do or think of.
SIMP SOM #1 - Cries about being single constantly
Ok, back when i was a simp one thing i would constantly do is complain about how much i want a girlfriend. It was something I often whined about with my friends and obviously that becomes annoying over time. Now considering I've never been in a relationship I totally get that desire for emotional fulfillment to the point of dating anyone. But a relationship will not magically fix all your problems. If you feel like a girlfriend will end all sadness in your life, chances are you're a simp. This could also be an early stage of incelism.
Simp SOM #2 - Interested in someone they don't KNOW
In teen movies or movies projected towards a younger audience a common trope is that a character has feelings for someone that doesn't even know their name. In movies this is considered "cute" but in real life this is like catching feelings for a streamer. It's a pretty shitty idea to befriend someone for the sole purpose of getting into a relationship. Speaking from experience, a simp will catch feelings off of someone's physical attraction alone, not what really matters. Sidenote: falling for several people at the same time is a simp move.
Simp SOM #3 - Embarrassing themselves/others to impress someone
I don't think I've met a good person, man or woman, who's seen someone embarrass someone else (insult, bully, spread a rumor, etc.) and be like "that's attractive. I think this is the worst part of simping because it affects other people besides yourself. Self deprivation is a form of embarrassment and from what I've seen on this sub and heard from others, it's not attractive or cute. Confidence is key, just don't be a cocky cock. Simps don't understand this step at all.
Simp SOM #4 - Not understanding what "not interested in a relationship" means
No means no. If someone isn't interested in going out with you then you should respect and accept that. However, simps will continue to win them over (Timmy Turner and Trixie Tang is a good comparison). Now this would most likely be destructive to any sort of friendship the simp and their romantic interest ever had due to the constant awkwardness to the possibly stalkish behavior continuing to make advancements can come off as. Oh, and repeatedly making advancements after being turned down is sexual harassment so, if it becomes too much, the simp can get into actual trouble. Also, if you see them in a relationship that's a sign to back off. Simps don't possess the comprehension skills necessary to understand that.
As a former simp myself, I've done all four of these one way or another and cringe thinking about it now. I would like any simp out there to know: I made it out, and so can you. This is based off personal experiences and online interactions so if i missed something or if i got something wrong feel free to point it out :) I hope this spreads some sort of awareness.

2020.07.27 00:41 gmatinsanity Reality check, please

Profile:
Target schools: GSB, HBS, SOM, Kellogg, Sloan, Stern (top schools obvi, but I'm not borrowing that kind of cash for less than a top 10 school)
I decided in Dec '19 to apply to b-school in round 2 this year, for Fall '21 entry and started learning the process and jargon around that time.
I wasn't sure about GMAT vs GRE, took both as assessments, did better on GMAT, so I committed to that.
Situation: despite spending thousands of dollars on books, two online test prep services, and studying between 8-10 hours every week since June, I have not seen any improvements. In fact, the more tests I take, the worse I seem to do since #2.
Obviously, the work to be done is on quant. Having been out of school for so long, it's barely familiar and just not coming back easily. I fully understand that quant will be my bitch for the next 4 months, but I want to know what kind of endgame is possible, and if anyone else has achieved this kind of swing in this amount of time.
GMAT test date 1: 11/7/2020
GMAT test date 2: 12/5/2020
Question: Is it even POSSIBLE that I can hit my target score of 710?
Assuming my verbal didn't improve at all in the next 4 months, if I get the quant to 49, I'll be at 690.
I know I have my work cut out for me, but want to know if I'm even fighting a fight I have any chance of winning.
I'm too deep into this financially and time-wise to back out now. I'm just trying to get my bearings here. Any advice appreciated.

3DNews - Алексей Лихачев - Russian - 7.5 / 10
A decent open-world game with gorgeous art direction and some unfortunate missteps which become more and more apparent the more you play. Whatever you are doing here, almost every mission ends up with two or even three fights with mongolian soldiers. And even engaging stories during these quests can't fix the repetitiveness.
ACG - Jeremy Penter - Buy
"An absolute pleasure to play"
Ars Technica - Sam Machkovech - Unscored
If you need to get lost in over 30 hours of heroic gameplay right now, in a single-player adventure with no online connectivity gimmicks or content locked away as DLC, Sucker Punch has you covered with an instant contender for 2020's game of the year.
Atomix - Alberto Desfassiaux - Spanish - 91 / 100
Yes, we have the presence of some clutches and design flaws very typical of the subgenre to which this title belongs, but nothing that overshadows the experience that this closure represents to the great exclusives of the PlayStation 4.
Attack of the Fanboy - William Schwartz - 4.5 / 5 stars
Ghost of Tsushima is a masterclass on how to make a palatable and focused open world experience
AusGamers - Kosta Andreadis - 8.1 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima isn’t perfect, not even close. But neither is Jin Sakai, and his journey from Samurai to Ghost is one worth savouring, and a Legendary Tale all its own.
CGMagazine - Lane Martin - Unscored
I adore Ghost of Tsushima in some pretty major ways. It certainly isn’t a perfect game, but it is fairly close.
COGconnected - James Paley - 90 / 100
I can think of no better game to be the swan song for the PS4.
Cerealkillerz - Gabriel Bogdan - German - 8.7 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima often loses itself in visual details and is missing endgame challenges but still offers enough gameplay variety and content to even get classic open world RPG Fans on board. For fans of the world of samurais and katanas this game is definitely the best one in years.
Critical Hit - Darryn Bonthuys - 9 / 10
A melancholic tale of war and a fitting epilogue to a current-gen era, Sucker Punch's latest effort is a slick showcase for the PlayStation 4 that draws you into a world that never fails to impress. Ghost of Tsushima is a masterpiece of precise gameplay, emotional turmoil and powerful world design.
DASHGAMER.com - Michael Pulman - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima might be the last big gun on the PS4, but it’s also one of the best, albeit for a slightly disengaging main plot.
Daily Mirror - Lloyd Coombes - 4 / 5 stars
This quest for revenge might not challenge your expectations, but there’s no denying the amount of fun to be had off the coast of Japan.
Daily Star - George Yang - 5 / 5 stars
The gameplay is fun, the narrative and its characters are great, and the art direction is absolutely beautiful. The pros here vastly outweigh the cons. Ghost of Tsushima is a breathtaking adventure.
Destructoid - Chris Carter - 9.5 / 10
With Ghost of Tsushima under its belt, Sucker Punch deserves to be in the same conversation as Insomniac, Naughty Dog, and Sony Santa Monica. If this generation is to wrap up soon, it's fitting that it'll end with Tsushima: one of its most beautiful games thus far.
Digital Chumps - Nathaniel Stevens - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is a narrative-driven game that has unique combat, a plethora of exploration, and enough heart to keep gamers coming back for more even after the game is beaten. The lack of a combat camera locking system will certainly cause some frustrations, but that is small potatoes when compared to the rest of the experience. This is the game Sucker Punch said it would be, and you won't be disappointed.
Digital Trends - 4.5 / 5 stars
Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best games I’ve played this year — it might’ve been my favorite, if not for The Last Of Us Part II. Jin Sakai’s story is violent but thoughtful, delivering an experience that feels unique on the PlayStation 4 despite the fact 2020 is the console’s last year before the PlayStation 5 makes it obsolete.
Digitally Downloaded - Matt Sainsbury - 3 / 5 stars
A wild misfire with every narrative element it attempts, and it boils down to this: Sucker Punch decided to do a historical epic inspired by Kurosawa… and produced something that fails as both history and as a pastiche of Kurosawa.
EGM - Mollie L Patterson - 8 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima falls short of the kind of gameplay we expect from developer Sucker Punch at this point, but then excels all other expectations in its storytelling and world building. Protagonist Jin Sakai and the rest of the cast are all fantastic characters, and the tale they tell is one worth experiencing—even in those moments where the gameplay may falter.
Easy Allies - Brad Ellis - 8.5 / 10
Review copy provided by PlayStation. Ghost of Tsushima is a captivating journey through ancient Japan with fluid swordplay and a gorgeous world to explore.
Echo Boomer - David Fialho - Portuguese - Loved
Despite some minor flaws, Ghost of Tsushima is trully a love letter to samurai cinema.
Eurogamer - Chris Tapsell - No Recommendation / Blank
Limited by a rote and rigid world, Sucker Punch's samurai homage pairs okay action with enjoyably committed, if awkwardly fawning melodrama.
Everyeye.it - Giuseppe Arace - Italian - 7.5 / 10
In short, the Ghost of Tsushima wind blows lightly.
GAMES.CH - Benjamin Braun - German - 89 / 100
Sucker Punch combines an epic, profound story about honor and the will of freedom with versatile action in an atmospheric setting in pre-industrial Japan. The diverse game world with all its cultural references offers a worthwhile and vast proposition, never becomming an annoying obligation.
GRYOnline.pl - Polish - 9 / 10
This is a great work to say goodbye to PlayStation 4, not only dotting and after a few really good years of using this console, but also allowing you to look optimistically into the future, waiting for what studios such as Sucker Punch Productions will prepare for the next generation with better technology.
Gadgets 360 - Akhil Arora - 8 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima falls a bit short. The narrative blocks and storytelling are too straightforward. To add to that, the side-quest bloat seeps the narrative of its pacing
Game Informer - Matt Miller - 9.5 / 10
At turns both melancholy and thrilling, Ghost of Tsushima is the open-world action formula at its most mature and immersive. Deep, rewarding, and hard to put down

Ghost of Tsushima is a stunning mix of Assassin's Creed and The Witcher 3, based on samurai films and traditional Japanese contemplation of nature. At the same time, this is the best Assassin's Creed ever created. There are no emasculated positive heroes and unambiguous villains, the tasks are exciting and interesting. And this is currently the most fascinating and visually impressive game on the PlayStation 4.

Ghost of Tsushima is definitely the last great game PS4 deserved. It's a fantastic open world game, visually stunning, incredibly fun to play, whether you choose to progress as a noble warrior or a stealthy ninja, a very immersive representation of feudal Japan and a truly admirable love letter to the samurai movie genre. If you own a PS4, you MUST play Ghost of Tsushima.

Sucker Punch has successfully solved the challenge of creating such an extremely Japanese game by an occidental studio. Despite being essentially a blueprinted open world game, its historical setting and combat with katana are extremely satisfying to have enjoyed the more than 20 hours of game it has to offer.

Ghost of Tsushima is a slight surprise. It is an all-around experience which delivers the fantasy of being a mythical samurai warrior. However, not everything shines, especially with the stealth systems, that do not square up, mechanically nor thematically. As the old saying goes, a samurai cannot obey 2 masters, because he dishonors himself. Thus, Ghost of Tsushima is a reminder of why Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 are generational gems and benchmarks in open world terms.

Ghost of Tsushima is an artistically creative game that often feels like a realistic Zelda game. The minimal UI, clever use of wind and beautiful environmental details make exploration rewarding on its own. When it comes to combat, the game falls flat. With a huge number of combat games to draw inspiration from, it is a shame this game is more like Dynasty Warriors than it is Ninja Gaiden. Endless button mashing with no way to ever pull off slick combos will have you feeling bored very quickly. You never feel like the powerful warrior the story tries to make you believe you are. Combat feels like you are trying to beat a screw into a piece of wood using a hammer.

Ghost of Tsushima is a worthy addition to the pantheon of games under the care of Sucker Punch Productions. This honestly feels like a true return to form from a studio that wavered ever so slightly at the beginning of this generation. Sucker Punch may have stumbled a little at the gates, but with a game like this, they finish strong at the twilight year of this console generation. A full understanding of the system's strengths and a creative vision that would not compromise for anything, that's what made the samurai epic, Ghost of Tsushima, possible.

Ghost of Tsushima is probably the best game about Japan, but the story is too simple and the complex combat system can be tricked by evasive actions that transform it into an easy game.

Sucker Punch's PS4 tribute to Akira Kurosawa is gorgeous to behold but its sparse open-world and bloated mechanics has it falling short

Ghost of Tsushima is greater than the sum of its parts: it does not reinvent the wheel in any of its aspects, but offers an experience that will thoroughly entertain lovers of open world and oriental settings.
TheSixthAxis - Aran Suddi - 8 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is an artistic triumph, capturing a real cinematic feel through its visuals, immersive world and soundtrack. However, Jin is a serviceable main character and he and his journey to save Tsushima is often overshadowed by secondary characters and smaller, more personal stories found in the side quests. Throw in some formulaic missions and an awkward user interface, and Ghost of Tsushima is at times more style than substance.
Too Much Gaming - Matthew Arcilla - 7 / 10
As an earnest, respectful tribute to jidaigeki dramas and the films of Akira Kurosawa, Ghost of Tsushima fares well enough. It creates a fictionalized account of the Mongol Invasion and weaves the tale into the most videogamey of videogame things – an open-world sandbox filled with straw-hat wearing ronin, mischievous foxes, hot springs, and meditative haiku. It’s easily the most ambitious output from Sucker Punch Productions to date.
TrueGaming - محمد البسيمي - Arabic - 8 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is an artistic experience packed with an engaging adventure that bring us many wonderful and thrilling storytelling moments.
TrustedReviews - Jade King - 4 / 5 stars
Ghost of Tsushima is an excellent open-world adventure from Sucker Punch Productions which adds some innovative ideas to a fairly stagnant genre. The game's depiction of the time period is generic and inoffensive, but that doesn't prevent it from being a stunning visual showcase and a worthwhile swan song for the PS4
Twinfinite - Alex Gibson - 4.5 / 5
Ghost of Tsushima features a level of charm that gives it a soul and personality lacking from so many AAA games lack these days. Even if it ultimately suffers from repetition by the game’s end, and despite a lack of variety in its quest, the magic of that initial exploration and the beauty of its world will stick with me for a very long time.

A decent open-world game with gorgeous art direction and some unfortunate missteps which become more and more apparent the more you play. Whatever you are doing here, almost every mission ends up with two or even three fights with mongolian soldiers. And even engaging stories during these quests can't fix the repetitiveness.

If you need to get lost in over 30 hours of heroic gameplay right now, in a single-player adventure with no online connectivity gimmicks or content locked away as DLC, Sucker Punch has you covered with an instant contender for 2020's game of the year.

Yes, we have the presence of some clutches and design flaws very typical of the subgenre to which this title belongs, but nothing that overshadows the experience that this closure represents to the great exclusives of the PlayStation 4.

Ghost of Tsushima often loses itself in visual details and is missing endgame challenges but still offers enough gameplay variety and content to even get classic open world RPG Fans on board. For fans of the world of samurais and katanas this game is definitely the best one in years.

PowerUp! - Adam Mathew - 8 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima isn't perfect but, like a summoned objective on your touchpad, it's a breath of fresh air that'll send a warm chill down the spine of any Samurai aficionado.
Press Start - Kieron Verbrugge - 8.5 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima might be built from the same stuff as its AAA, open world contemporaries, but that doesn't stop it from being one of the best open world experiences of the generation.
Push Square - Robert Ramsey - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is a joy to play and a joy to behold. Sucker Punch has crafted one of the most memorable open world games of this generation, buoyed by an immensely satisfying combat system and an engaging, dramatic story.
SECTOR.sk - Ondrej Džurdženík - Slovak - 8.5 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima provides us with an awesome trip to feudal Japan that only lacks a bit of story depth.
Saudi Gamer - Arabic - 9 / 10
The island of Tsushima is the star of the game, with its variety and beauty, and myriad of secrets and stories. Coupled with all the interlocking systems and varied options, though making the game somewhat bloated, makes this one of the most well rounded experiences I've experienced.
Screen Rant - Christopher Teuton - 5 / 5 stars
Ghost of Tsushima is the best Assassin's Creed game there is, and likely the closest many users will ever get to experiencing what it's like to be a samurai in 11th century Japan.
Shacknews - Blake Morse - 9 / 10
Perhaps Ghost of Tsushima isn’t a perfect cherry blossom, but it is pretty damn close as far as I’m concerned.
Sirus Gaming - Erickson Melchor - 9 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is a worthy addition to the pantheon of games under the care of Sucker Punch Productions. This honestly feels like a true return to form from a studio that wavered ever so slightly at the beginning of this generation. Sucker Punch may have stumbled a little at the gates, but with a game like this, they finish strong at the twilight year of this console generation. A full understanding of the system's strengths and a creative vision that would not compromise for anything, that's what made the samurai epic, Ghost of Tsushima, possible.

SomHráč.sk - Martin Kubeš - Czech - 90 / 100
Ghost of Tsushima has gripped me like no other title in a while and will resonate with me long after I have beaten it. We couldn't wish for a better final AAA exclusive title for the PlayStation 4
Spaziogames - Domenico Musicò - Italian - 8.2 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is probably the best game about Japan, but the story is too simple and the complex combat system can be tricked by evasive actions that transform it into an easy game.
Spiel Times - Caleb Wysor - 7 / 10
Ghost of Tsushima is an enjoyable but muddled experience: its strong gameplay fundamentals are hampered by a lack of originality and weak storytelling.
Telegraph - Dan Silver - 3 / 5 stars
Sucker Punch's PS4 tribute to Akira Kurosawa is gorgeous to behold but its sparse open-world and bloated mechanics has it falling short
The Games Machine - Danilo Dellafrana - Italian - 9.5 / 10
USgamer - Mike Williams - 4 / 5 stars
Sucker Punch's first stab at a stealth action adventure hits the mark. The island of Tsushima is a beautiful backdrop for this tale of revenge and honor and the environmental art is a visual treat. Combat and stealth are largely solid, though there are issues with the camera and hitting the right targets. The biggest stumble comes with the Japan

2020.06.30 00:45 thirstybard [Online][5e] [USA] Help me build a DM Resume (re-su-may). Livestreaming a few one-shots so multiple groups needed. Prefer 18+

Frog God Games is about to start their first ever Organized Play Campaign (OPC). I would like to become a DM for this but that requires "an extensive review process" including "style, content, knowledge, and personality". They estimate they will need more GMs by August so I hope to develop a reviewable "resume" by that time as well as bring in enough people to accelerate their need for new GMs.
How Will ThirstyBard Prove Himself
I will be doing livestreamed games and getting feedback on a third-party site (Demiplane). This will allow them to review actual games I run as well as view impartial feedback that I have no control over (which allows people to be more honest). These games will be between 1-4 sessions of 4-hours each. Dates/Times TBD. Any groups formed will probably start out with 1 session and once people show they are willing to commit to something longer we can start exploring longer story lines.
What is Organized Play
It allows you to keep and progress a character through multiple different tables and DMs. The games tend to be more episodic in nature and allow you to play when is convenient instead of committing to a single group. This gives you more freedom to choose who you enjoy playing with. There will also be events for online conventions (I predict every convention will have an online presence from now on) so by playing in the OPC you unlock additional opportunities to play in time-limited special events which give you bragging rights and make you superior to other gamers (just kidding, you're all great).
OPC is also a great way to meet a large variety of people. Often friendships are made and home groups are formed from people met at organized events.
Who is Frog God Games
They're a small, independent, 3rd party publisher, who have put out consistently good products for decades and are currently growing their online presence. Their tagline is "Adventures Worth Winning" where players need to do more than "roll" their way out of every situation but need to constantly stay on their toes and keep their wits about them. Fighting isn't all that great because it's so risky! You can check out their products here: https://www.froggodgames.com/
New Player Focused
No experience needed. In fact, if we can get together a group of new players I could run som
Requirements
Three accounts are needed and they are all free. To join you will need a Discord account. Astraltabletop.com account (Roll20 competitor). And a Demiplane.com account.
Just have a headset and decent mic for the Twitch livestream and Youtube videos.
Character Creation
The focus will be on exploration and interacting with the world and the people in it. As such, we will only be using the Player's Handbook for these games. No multi-classing or feats. Standard array. Yes combat is an important part of D&D but for these games it will be more about what the player does than what exists on the character sheet.
Characters will start out at low level but depending on the experience of the players there we may eventually run some higher level games as well.
For now though, just respond to this post with when you're available and what type of game your would prefer: city based or dungeon based. Both will have combat but the dungeon will slant more towards combat/exploration.

2020.06.29 01:19 TheBlueMango01 I (m18) am getting mixed signals from my gf/date (f17) and I don’t know what to do, or if I should talk to her about it.

Hi,
Alright, I met this girl nearly a year ago at an academic event. She was pretty nice, had great music taste, and she is really smart. Only « issue » was that she lives 80km away. Nevertheless, I got her contact information and we talked on and off for a while. With lockdown tho we started talking more and more together, until it became daily. I consequently decided to ask her out.
Our first date happens and we both (I felt) had an amazing time. Hell, I mean, we literally sat at a restaurant and talked for 5 hours over a main course and a coffee. After that we continued talking normally, and agreed to a second date. Which happened the following Friday. We went to see a movie and ate some burgers afterwards. I don’t think it lasted as long as the time before, but I sure felt it went well. I mean, when we ended the date, I made a move to kiss her, and she stopped me and said: « let me kiss you ».
Anyway all goes well, and I think I’d like to present her to some of my friends and like also to my parents. (My parents originally are very anti-dating in the sense you have to marry that person. I once dated a girl and didn’t tell them, and when they found out, hell broke loose). Anyway, she agreed to meet my friends and we agreed to present her as my best friend to my parents (following a discussion on the issue aforementioned). Dinner goes reaaallly well, and she really hits it off with my friends! But this is where the issue starts.
This meeting happened nearly 2 weeks ago. I try to be organise a new date, but she keeps telling me she’s busy. Which surprises me considered by we’re both on summer holiday, and keeps telling me that she’s meeting with friends. At one point we nearly had last Friday planned out, but then I my parents wanted to do a family event that day. I talked with my date/gf idk what to call her at around midnight. And I told her that I may not be able to come on Friday in the end. BUT, that I was going to try to figure it out. Next morning I talk about it with my parents and manage to get that event pushed. I then automatically talk to her and tell her « hey! I can in the end on Friday! » to which she replies that she actually already made plans with a friend.
At this point I think okay, that’s a little quick, but fair enough. But it only aggravates from here. I don’t consider myself a controlling type of guy, but I do like to look at her snap map because seeing her little icon when she’s not around brings a smile to my face! But then I started noticing, she’s online a fair bit, but doesn’t open my messages until 3-5 hours later. When we have a late night convo, she tells me she wants to sleep, and calls it a night, but remains active for another 2 hours. Why lie to me? Why not just say: « hey XXXXX, I’m sorry I’m catching with an old friend or something, can we talk later? » honestly would understand! And finally she doesn’t seem to want to find time or make time for a date, and it seems she doesn’t have a single day where we could meet in atleast the ne t 2-3 weeks...
I’m utterly confused, because at the same time she sends me good morning texts and 2 weeks ago shared som personal issues with me, and I felt I was quite helpful to her. Both of which she defs didn’t do before we started dating.
I of course think I may have a part to blame in this, in the sense that sometimes i am unable to sense irony or sarcasm, and when she makes a comment containing that, I can answer in a serious fashion or with obvious statements when clearly afterwards I realise it was dumb. It makes me look bad, and also makes her think that I view her as a dumb person, which in reality is not the case. I think she’s verrrrrry smart. I also drunk text her... but i believe I’ve kept it more or less pretty wholesome with her, just explaining what I like about her and things like that.
While I have dated a girl before, I’ve honestly never been in a full of relationship like this, and I guess this situation scares me, in the sense why is she doing this? And I don’t know how to act, or if I’m over reacting. What should I do??
TD:RL Met a girl, went on a few dates together which went really well, though now she gives me mixed signals telling me she doesn’t have time to meet up, or waiting hours to reply to my messages when she’s been active all day. But on the other hand she sends me morning texts, something we didn’t do before we dated.

2020.06.19 18:33 Cobbler-Sad It's hard to share this, but Chase Owens is yet another wrestler with a history of sexual misconduct.

UPDATE: Chase has responded on twitter saying that this was "part of an angle" in a promotion called NWA Smoky Mountain. Not only have I not ever worked at that promotion, but others have already said they have seen this happen in other companies. CHASE IS EXPOSING HIMSELF. https://twitter.com/realchaseowens/status/1274058262795649024
After seeing how strong so many people have been in the last 24 hours in opening up about wrestlers that have made inappropriate sexual advances, it makes me feel more comfortable to finally open up about my experiences with Chase Owens, both personal and what I've seen him do and heard him talk about regarding other women. As I am afraid of losing my bookings by coming forward with my name, I will omit certain details that would reveal my identity but try to share as much as I can without doing so.
Prior to him working in Japan, Chase and I worked multiple shows together across the southeast of the US in Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, and South Carolina. He would often travel with other wrestlers in the area, such as Ricky Morton or Matt Sigmon. Because he is such a talented worker, he always got a pass with his behavior at shows. He made multiple advances at me, even after multiple attempts to shut him down. Before I started wrestling myself, I was still around in locker rooms so I was around him when I was 16 years old. He asked me how old I was, and I replied "16." He said, "18?", and I said "No, 16." He kept on trying to get me to say that I was 18 so that his behavior would be justified in trying to get me to sleep with him.
He also on multiple accounts would tell stories in the locker room about hooking up with "rats" as the boys called them that he knew were "close enough" to 18. I've also seen Chase bully locker room members that had relationships go south to give the number of the girl that person was dating to him because he "had always wanted to fuck them." He also bragged about how he tried to get a married male wrestler to have a threesome with him and another girl he pressured into having sex with him. The married wrestler refused to do so, but he would tell this story like it was a badge of honor that he almost got a married man to cheat on his wife so that they could fuck a fan.
Chase is a disgusting human being. He has been protected by the good ol' boys system for far too long simply because he is a good worker. If other women are brave enough to talk about how shitty this industry can be, then I'm going to do the same.
EDIT: I would like to include comments from below made by other workers that are supporting my claim since people are questioning the validity of my accusations.
theswannyone: "Made an account just to confirm this is exactly how Chase would talk with the other trainers when I was training at SOM. More than once he'd talk in detail about his sexual encounters with anyone who'd listen backstage at SOM shows with children in earshot. Of course he'd wait for Ricky and anyone else in charge to step out of the room beforehand.
I've got no bookings to lose since I failed hard at wrestling so if you want proof I trained there, I was Prince Midas (not proud of that one), Haifisch and Mike Magnum. One of those is bound to still be in a video posted on SOM's Facebook."
NZTisgoodforyou: "Sadly I can say I've witnessed this behavior in locker rooms with Chase. But I've worked with Chase in Virginia and Tennessee and he absolutely acted this way multiple times. I was a young trainee when I first met him and was often ridiculed in locker rooms by all the boys, so I never spoke out about it in fear of retribution at the time. But I heard Chase directly talk about having sex with fans that were underage. He never said those kinds of things when bookers were around, but if it was just the guys, he would brag about his sex life constantly.
I'm so sorry this happened to you, and I regret I never said anything previously. But I will stand with you here now."
ConeyIslandWarrior: " I've never personally witnessed Chase do this stuff, but I've heard the talk, some even from him,and stories from female friends in the business, that I 100% believe you. I've seen talented wrestlers get blackballed from promotions because they got into it with Chase,so I can only imagine how bad it is with women. I'm sorry this happened to you,and I believe you. "
sailorscoutsarah: " I am female wrestler who interracted with Chase Owens for some time. I have seen him sexual harass women, heard him brag about it, heard him try to manipulate women, and known for a fact that he has hit a woman one time. I have seen women confront Chase. I have seen men get bullied into being disgusting pigs by Chase. I've seen chase spread false rumors about women in order to get revenge. I've also seen unsolicited/unwanted picture of chase in his underwear. He's the embodiment of what ”the boys” do in wrestling. Chase Owens was for a long-time untouchable in the wrestling community because of his connections. I hope that this story changes that. Know that I thought I could never post this information online out of fear before now. "
EDIT 2: Chase deleted his twitter response shortly after posting, but here is a screenshot. As mentioned, not only did I not ever work in that promotion, but there are multiple workers in this thread that have worked with him in multiple states that are supporting what I have said about his behavior.
EDIT 3: Andy Nemmity is now stating that multiple other women are messaging him that are afraid to come out publicly, but they also have stories about Chase. https://twitter.com/AndyNemmity/status/1274064690423885824

2020.05.06 01:55 DreamCaster78 How Do You I End This?

tl;dr: I need to decide between two ladies..
I think I need som help and guidance with what I need to do on how I can do this right.
I hate online dating. I have met some great people but I hate many aspects of it. Especially the multiple person dating part.
But here I am in this situation. I have been speaking to a number of ladies during this time and managed to narrow my communications to just two that I was interested in.
One is a beautiful Russian lady - (RUGirl)
The other is a beautiful local lady - (LocalGirl)
When I was confident that I was not getting catfished I decided to see if there was any long term potential with RUGirl as she is willing to relocate. But as she is in Russia I dont expect we will see each other anytime soon.
So after I started talking to her I was then contacted by LocalGirl. Who is beautiful smart and really does light my fire. She had on her profile that she was not looking for anything serious but is open to it. And I thought it will be worth getting to know her to see if we have any common goals in life, I wouldnt say no to the chance for kids for example.
So my idea was to basically keep filtering things down to one. And I was pretty sure it was the RUGirl but things have become more complicated.
Turns out LocalGirl is quite paranoid and possesive. I mean we have not even started dating yet and she is calling me a cheater and saying that I am speaking to other ladies.. Normally that would be a dealbreaker for me. But the thing is shes not really wrong. Especially about speaking to the other ladies part as we met through a dating website! And now she has decided that she wants a commited long term relationship and "does not want to share me with anyone else"..
She claims to have her profile up but is not replying to any guys..
And despite the fact I keep telling her that were not actually dating yet and that I dont think that after about a month we should not be moving so fast it does not appear to be working. And to be honest my concern is that even if I were to end up with her and I wasnt talking to other people that the accusations and paranoia will continue. Crazy girlfriend vibes.
But if I had been speaking to her before I had been speaking to RUGirl then I would be more serious about her to be honest. Because I was speaking to RUGirl first I am still loyal to her more if you know what I mean?
So I really need help to decide. I honestly like them both but feel that I have gone as far as I can and they both deserve someone who is not going to mess them around. When I weight up the pros and cons I get this;
PRO's
(RUGirl)
*Smart
*Beautiful
*Intelligent
*Wants the same things as me in life.
*Willing to relocate.
(LocalGirl)
*Smart
*Beautiful
*Intelligent
*Wants the same things as me in life.
*Is here and wants to be with me now.
*Great to talk to.
CON's
(RUGirl)
*Vanilla personality - Although I dont mind our chats.
*Still has her profile up while talking about being long term with me.
*Lives in Russia.
(LocalGirl)
*A bit nutty, paranoid and possesive. But she was actually right about the subject.
*Still has her profile up while talking about being long term with me.
*Flaky - starting off saying she did not want anything serious and now almost forcing me to become exclusive to her.
I think I know I have to wrap things up with LocalGirl. There are too many red flags with her. But first I will have to speak to RUGirl to ask her the hard questions. I may even tell her about LocalGirl..
Does anyone think I am doing the wrong thing?

UPDATE: For anyone who cares. I had a tough conversation with RUGirl about the future. I have checked out every possibility of a scam and it all looks legit. We videocall almost every day. Spoke to her about her dating profile and she said she had forgotten it was up then took it down. We made a plan for me to go see her as soon as I can.. Which will be a while sadly.
I told the both of them about all this. And I told LocalGirl I thought she was not quite ready for a LTR. She did not take it well, as expected. And accused me of gaslighting her and trying to set her up as a side chick.
I reminded her we were never actually together. And that if that were the case I wouldnt not be talking to any other ladies.. When I was trying to explain this to her it made me realise just how much I really liked her..
I had been speaking to RUGirl and others before her. But she almost blew them all out of the water. She did in the end in terms of what we both wanted. But she was so toxic in the end that there was really no comparison. I mean even if I were talking to no other girls it would not have been wise to get with her.. As the one commenter on this post says..
" Localgirl is psycho "
Now the question I am left with and the only doubt I have about RUGirl is could this in some way be some kind of elaborate scam. But I guess another post will be best for that.

Hello, I've noticed a few days back that the alt gr + 4 doesn't work 100% of the times, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't and som other times it might work only a few times. The thing is that both keys work perfectly individually, alt gr + any other number works as expected is only the 4 that gives problems.
Maybe some of the information that I'm going to provide is useless but I'd rather give more information than less.
- I have my computer language set to Spanish (QWERTY) and it is the only language that have been installed since I bought the PC.
- I haven't installed anything recently that could change the behaviour of the keyboard.
- I have updated my system OS.
- All drivers are up to date.
- The rest of the keyboard works flawlessly.
-It's a 3 years old krom mechanical keyboard (I don't know the exact model) so I thought that maybe there was some dust in the keys so I took it apart and cleaned it but didn't work either.
And I think that's basically it. I don't understand what could have happened and I found any information online that matched the exact problem that I'm running into so I hope this post helps more people.
If there is anything else that you guys need to know to work out what is happening don't worry and ask anything I'll be happy to help you as well.

Thanks.

Please don’t get your information from Reddit posts, and refer to the resources provided by experts instead. For reference, here are links to the advice from the World Health Organisation and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, as well as the CDC (United States), the NHS (UK), the Canadian Government, the Australian Department of Health, RIVM (Netherlands) and the German Ministry of Health - just to cover the countries that use indieheads the most.

Supporting musicians and venues

(I nicked most of this list from this post.)
A big chunk of artists’ revenues comes from live gigs, as well as the merch sales attached to those tours. Without that revenue stream, artists may struggle financially. Similarly, without shows, many of the venues, especially the smaller ones, may experience serious financial difficulties. Here are things that you can do to support them if you can afford to:

2020.02.09 21:35 tutetibiimperes Nugu Roundup Special Edition - Let's Talk About... - 200209

Hello and welcome to a Special Edition of the Nugu Roundup!
What is this?: Since Valentine's Day is this Friday, I thought I'd feature some of the sexier groups and songs from nugu and under-the-radar groups to help y'all create some playlists to get in the mood for the holiday. Last week we celebrated the Superbowl with a Snuper Bowl, this week we're going to mix it up a bit from the normal format and do some more individual song spotlights as well as relax the rules about who is and isn't nugu a bit and go for a general 'not in the eye of mainstream Kpop fans' definition.
We'll kick things off with a look at a group that's a bit unique in the sexy-group niche of Kpop for actually having a more than minimal discography, let's get to know Laysha!
And now, on to the show....
Laysha
Who are they?: Laysha is a four member girl group currently under A1 Entertainment. While they're primarily a live festival/dance/modeling group they have broken the mold of similar groups a bit by actually continually releasing original music.
Company: A1 Entertainment, from what I can tell, was actually founded by Laysha's leader Goeun in 2018 allowing her to take the group independent from JS Entertainment, their previous label. A1 Entertainment also represents Mayqueen, Laysha's 'Little Sister' group, who thus far has not released any original music that I can find and has focused on doing live dance covers and performances.
Members
Debut: Laysha's first MV was Chocolate Cream (MV) Live Performance (Link) which was released July 19th, 2016 and features the Korean rapper Nassun. Previous to their first MV Laysha released a digital single Turn Up the Music (music link) Live Performance (Link) in May of 2015. Chocolate Cream has been referred to as the 'ultimate hoe anthem' while Turn Up the Music is a more straightforward dance track.
Most Recent Comeback: December 21st, 2019 with Freedom (MV) A collaboration with clothing brand Guess, the MV pokes fun at adult VR dating sim games, and the song is genuinely catchy.
Other MVs and Live Performances
YouTube Channel: The Laysha
AFreecaTV Channels
Random Stuff
Trivia: Former members of Laysha include Choim, former CEO of independent girl group Camila and now a solo artist, Yoobin, who was also a member of Camila, and Hayoung who is now a member of Mayqueen as Yooha. Laysha is known for having guest members perform with them, including Hadam (formerly of Bambino), Yooha (former Laysha member and now member of Mayqueen), and Hayeon (current member of Mayqueen). Former member Seulgi joined Switch/Switchberry for a time but no longer appears to be active. In 2018 Laysha members discovered hidden cameras in their dorms. While Korean netizens initially tried to call it a publicity stunt it was later discovered that a web drama production company the group had contracted with for a reality show, and which had legitimately placed some cameras for purposes of the production, had also placed other cameras the group was unaware of and spread unedited and unauthorized footage online while the girls did not know they were being filmed.

Lupine Publishers Soil and Water Conservation Measures and Challenges in Kenya; a Review

Abstract

The preservation and sustainable development of soil and water resources is one of the basic principles for the development of Kenya. Throughout the course of history, all the social improvement and economic development are deeply concerned with soil loss and ecological environmental protection. Poor soil and water conservation measures will lead to land degradation that are either natural or human induced. Natural hazards include land topography and climatic factors such as steep slopes, landslides from frequent floods, blowing of high velocity winds, rains of high intensity, strong leaching in humid regions and drought conditions in the dry regions. It is now common sense that soil and water conservation is the insurance for national ecology and its development. Consequences to land degradation leads to increased use of inputs and greater costs where farmers attempt to combat reduction in yields with increased inputs, particularly fertilizers. For the past long period of time, soil and water loss has been recognized as number one killer to the ecological environment and Kenya is at critical conditions for its development with complicated geological conditions and accelerated human destruction and serious soil and water losses. Based on historical documents, experience and detailed data analysis, this paper aims to review the general characteristics of soil and water loss, to explore the relationship between soil and water conservation and sustainable economic development, and to provide relevant strategies for soil and water conservation in Kenya.

Introduction

The Republic of Kenya is in Africa and a founding member of the East African Community (EAC) with the capital city Nairobi. Kenya's territory lies on the equator and overlies the East African Rift covering a diverse and expansive terrain that extends roughly from Lake Victoria to Lake Turkana (formerly Lake Rudolf) and further south-east to the Indian Ocean. It is bordered by Tanzania to the south and southwest, Uganda to the west, South Sudan to the north-west, and Ethiopia to the north and Somalia to the north-east. Kenya covers 581,309km2, and current population of 50,410,740 as of Saturday, January 27, 2018, based on the latest United Nations estimates, of which 74% lives in rural areas. Average population density is 87per km2, but its distribution is highly influenced by climate and agro-ecological zone. The highest density is found in western province. From 2002, the population growth rate was estimated at 1.8 5 per year. Life expectancy increased up to 60 years by 1993 but dropped to 45 years by 2002 due to high incidence of HIV/AIDS [1]. Overall, poverty level was estimated at 30.8% in 2004. Improved water sources are accessible for 62% of the population, ranging from 89 % in urban areas to 46% in rural areas. Improved sanitation facilities are used by 56% of the population in urban areas and 43% in rural areas, while average over the whole country is 48% AIDS [2].
Kenya has a warm and humid tropical climate on its Indian Ocean coastline and cooler in the savannah grasslands around the capital city, Nairobi, and especially closer to Mt Kenya, which has permanent snow on its peaks. Further in land are highlands in Central and Rift Valley regions where farmers grow tea and coffee as cash crops and are major foreign revenue earners. To the West are Nyanza and Western regions, with an equatorial, hot and dry climate which becomes humid around Lake Victoria, the largest tropical fresh-water lake in the world. This gives way to temperate and forested hilly areas in the neighbouring western region. The north-eastern regions along the border with Somalia and Ethiopia are arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs) with near-desert landscapes. Kenya is known for its world class long distance athletes in track and also field events and rugby. Its diverse climate and geography give rise to expansive wildlife reserves, national parks and white sandy beaches at the Coastal region making Kenya home to the modern safari. Kenya has several world heritage sites such as Lamu, Diani, Bamburi and Kilifi, where international yachting competitions are held every year as well as being the cradle of mankind in Lake Turkana where oldest fossils for early man were first discovered. The Kenya economy is the largest by GDP in East and Central Africa [3,4]. The capital, Nairobi is a regional commercial hub. Agriculture is a major employer with country's traditionally exports of tea, coffee and fresh flowers to Europe.

Soil Types

The soil types in the country vary from place to place due to topography, amount of rainfall and parent material. In western Kenya the soils are mainly; Acrisols, Cambisols [5] and their mixtures, are highly weathered, leached and with high accumulation of Iron and Aluminum oxides. The soils in Central Kenya and the highlands are mainly Nitisols and Andosols, are young and of volcanic origin. The arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs) comprise of Vertisols, Gleysols and Phaozems [5], and are characterized by pockets of sodicity and salinity, low fertility and are vulnerable to erosion. Coastal soils are coarse textured and low in organic matter; the most common type being Arenosols, Luvisols and Acrisols. Widespread soil salinity, which has adversely influenced irrigation development, is found in isolated pockets around Lake Baringo basin in the Rift Valley and in Taveta division of the coast region [2].

Rainfall and agro-ecological zones

Average annual rainfall is 630mm with a variation from less than 200mm in northern Kenya to >1,800 mm on the slopes of Mt. Kenya. Rainfall distribution pattern is bimodal with long rains falling from March to May and short rains from October to November for most parts of the country. The climate is influenced by the Inter-tropical Convergence Zone and relief, and ranges from permanent snow above 4,600m on Mt. Kenya to true desert type in the Chalbi desert in Marsabit district, north of the country. About 80% of the country is ASAL, while 17% is considered high potential agricultural land, sustaining 75% of population. Forest cover is about 3% of total land area. The country has six major agro-ecological zones namely: Upper highland (UH), lower highland (LH), upper midland (LM), lower midland (LM), lowland (L) and coastal lowlands (CL). These zones are associated with corresponding temperature variations ranging from freezing to 40 0C. The Penman estimate of annual evaporation from open water surfaces in Kenya varies from 1000mm in Central highlands to 2,600mm in arid north. According to [2], agricultural land covers 33% of the country and is classified as (i) high potential land receiving more than 850mm of annual rainfall, 67,850km2 (ii) medium potential land receiving 850-730mm; covering 31,570km2 (iii) low potential land receiving less than 610mm, covering 42,050km2 (iv) other lands covering 48,670km2.

Soil water conservation

The United Nations predicts that 1.8 billion people will experience absolute water scarcity in less than 5 years, and worry that by 2025, two out of three persons will be living in waterstressed regions. Already every five persons worldwide cannot access their basic everyday water resource, a fact recently witnessed in Cape Town, South Africa which is in dire need of water with serious rationing of the commodity. Water may well be a renewable resource, but its capacity to renew itself depends on how it is managed. Man faces serious water management crisis according to the Pacific Institute book in its world water series [6]. Increasing efficiency in use and reducing wastage in water systems is quite often the cheapest, easiest way for us to get new water, something that is mostly ignored in future water planning programs the world over [7]. Poor management of resources such as unplanned land clearing for cultivation and deforestation of the water towers has led to serious environmental and ecological degradation as well as reduced water volumes. In Kenya, hiving of forest land for political expediency plus illegal invasion and settlements in large swathes of forests at Hombe and Timau in Mt Kenya, Ngong forest, Masaai Mara and Aberdare ranges among others has led to erratic and low rainfall experienced in the maize and wheat growing belts of Kenya as well as in the Game reserves and national parks where the rivers are drying up. The dwindling water resources as the rivers dry has led to migration of the famous flamingo birds from L. Nakuru hence affecting ecotourism in the bird sanctuary. The Masaai Mara Game Reserve that was once voted the seventh wonder of the world due to the wildebeest seasonal migration every year is experiencing challenges as the Mara river shrinks and the crocodiles and other wildlife unable to thrive and flourish. Some lakes like Kamnyarok in the same belt have dried up leaving a trial of death and devastation in their wake.
Kipsang [8] in an article in the standard newspaper bemoaned the human activity threatening important water towers in Kenya especially Kaptagat (Plate 1) that forms part of the Mau complex. On a national scale, accelerating deforestation, soil erosion and environmental degradation remain a major concern. Water resources are under pressure in parts of the country owing to overuse, not only for agricultural and domestic consumption but also for hydro-power and wildlife. Ecological disruption of inland lakes, particularly Lakes Victoria, Turkana and Naivasha, is a major concern for the fishing industry. Other inland lakes such as Lakes Baringo and Ol' Bolossat are equally devastated. For example L. Kamnyarok which has already dried up and unless something drastic is done, it will be extinct in the near future. The lake was the lifeline for many wild animals such as crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and various birds. There was a time when some 15,000 crocodiles gathered in this lake but the rapid drying up of the lake have caused death to a large number as they tried to escape and find a new home elsewhere. The people of the region and its surrounding areas were fully dependent (plate 2) on this water source for various activities. The dying lake once got its recognition as a wetland throughout the world by the Ramsar Convention but is no more. The residents are now worried on how to continue with their farming activities and watering their livestock, a major challenge with the current draught ravaging many parts of Kenya. Many reasons being advanced on possible causes for the drying up of lake such as poor farming practices and gulley of Kiptilit resulting in acute sedimentation and indiscriminate cutting of trees were considered among the common factors responsible. It was though, decided that the lake would be restored but the fight between the Barwessa division's residents and the Baringo county council have so far disrupted the initiative (plate 3).

The donors funding the restoration of the lake demanded that the residents to vacate the place while the residents demanded compensation before giving up though there are indications that the land is an officially declared National Reserve. Though earlier attempts to conserve the lake failed, the KWS director has been hoping that the residents of the Barwessa Division will follow the example of the residents of the Rimoi Game Reserve where land reverted to the government and conservation effected as the county council of Baringo aimed to save the reserve from extinction. For L. Baringo, the situation has been aggravated by poor land use resulting in siltation and output from fishing and forestry sectors in particular has declined substantially due to resource degradation [9]. L. Baringo is one of the important fresh water lakes in the Kenyan Rift Valley that is primarily arid in nature and as a significant world Ramsar site, it is important in terms of socio-economic diversity and biodiversity. Despite this, the lake is threatened with siltation resulting from human activities in its catchment. A study by Lwenya [10] on Human aspects of siltation, Causes, Impacts and Interventions to identify the factors contributing to siltation and to suggest strategies and opportunities to mitigate the problem indicated that the livelihoods of communities around L. Baringo depend on livestock rearing, charcoal burning and cultivation all precursors to degradation of the ecosystem.
Socio-economic factors, including poverty, land fragmentation; low standard of living and earning are cited as drivers contributing to the increased risk of watersheds [11] due to differences in land uses and land utilization types. Land ownership influences socioeconomic and political position and benefits of different groups of people. Land issues and conflicts that occur are related to poverty, inequality and land reformation processes. Contestations over land are most noticeable among the poor folks, who lack alternative means of supporting their livelihoods [12], leading to lack of resources conservation. Transition from forest to another agricultural use leads to significant impact on topsoil resistance and resilience [13]. For most wetlands, soil erosion by water is the most common process causing sedimentation downslope and on riverine valleys meaning there is a distinct linkage between erosion and watershed conservation [14], and these are accelerated by deforestation, overgrazing, and the cultivation of unsuitable or fragile land (plate 4) [15].

Plate 4: Mau Forest Complex, one of Kenya's most important water catchments, is severely threatened by unsustainable exploitation such as forest clearing for charcoal production.
📷
L. Ol'Bolossat watershed has been affected by anthropic disturbances [16]. In the headwater catchments of the central Kenya, a prevalent cause of land degradation is unplanned deforestation to allow for human settlements and subsistence agriculture. In the highlands of Nyandarua, the ubiquitous landuse changes are believed to be the major cause of the dwindling volumes of L. Ol'Bolossat (Plates 5-7), which has recently been declared an endangered water body by the regional government of Kenya [17]. So far, few studies have been carried out on the spatial-temporal lands cover changes possibly affecting the size of L. Ol'Bolossat hence lack of reliable in-situ data. Accumulation of organic matter and silt from the surrounding farmlands have contributed to water pollution and fluctuation of water level from zero to 250cm depending on rainfall, surface run off and seepage from the basin [18]. The lake suffers domestic and agricultural pollution due to unsustainable farming practices that lead to occurrence of waterborne diseases [19]. According to the forest Act 2005, Kenya Forestry Services (KFS) has the mandate of managing Kenyan Forests. The law allows for collaboration and participation of the local community living adjacent to the forest to conserve the forest in question and in return earn a living through extraction of non-wood products.

The use of agrochemicals in neighbouring farms has led to bioaccumulation in fish and pose health risk to human as well as fish death and causes extinction of some species [19]. In 1992 the Fisheries department established that turbidity of L. Ol'Bolossat was not suitable for fresh water fish though mud fish could do well in those conditions. Nielsen [20] indicated that habitat loss and degradation ruin the fisheries through water abstraction, removal of vegetation for development and agriculture. Communally owned resources experience challenges when being shared; such as unequal sharing of resources, dissimilar priorities, location of the resource, dissimilar cultures and unequal representation in the management [21]. These challenges are in turn manifested in poor conservation measures of L. Ol'Bolossat due to the tragedy of the commons. The free rider rationale where no individual community member bears responsibility. Poor land-use systems together with resource user conflicts, political marginalization, poverty, weak institutions and policies have been observed as factors contributing to land and water degradation. Negative impacts of siltation as identified above included destruction of fish breeding areas, flooding, poor water quality affecting human and animal use and increased resource user conflicts. Strategies that various institutions are undertaking such as replanting indigenous vegetation, are show little progress due to poor or lack of co-ordination, the nature of the landscape, lack of funding and political goodwill. Lwenya [10] identified opportunities for soil management systems such as use of indigenous trees and grasses to enhance livelihoods for local communities, while at the same time conserving the soils. Which in most cases are ignored by the local communities as was observed by Koech [22,23] in Bura irrigation Scheme and it surrounding areas.
A case in point is the now Controversial Mau water tower where the forests are diminishing very fast [19]. The Mau Forests Complex (MFC) forms the largest closed-canopy forest ecosystem in Kenya, the largest indigenous montane forest (417,000 hectares) in East Africa, and is the most important water catchment in the Kenyan Rift Valley and Western Kenya. Investigations show MFC has been affected by widespread unplanned settlements, irregular forest land allocation and illegal extraction of forest resources destroying approximately a quarter of the MFC over the last 15 years [24].
In addition, sections of the MFC have been impacted by forest plantations (10% of Mau forest), subsistence and cash crop farming and unregulated logging concessions. Scientists predict that further destruction of the MFC will cause an environmental disaster in Kenya and significantly reduce river flows and lake levels. This has already been observed in the dwindling river Mara, Gucha and others feeding Victoria basin. The MFC forests provide critical environmental services to the country: freshwater provisioning, river flow regulation, flood mitigation, recharge of ground water reservoirs, erosion control, water purification, biodiversity conservation and micro-climate regulation. The ecosystem services support a range of economic sectors including agriculture and tourism and the market value of such goods and services generated annually in tea and tourism sectors alone, in excess of US$ 229 million [24]. The restoration of the MFC is of major interest to the government of Kenya and is now a national priority. The politicization of the removal of encroachers from several forest blocks in the southern MFC demonstrated the importance of the ecosystem and the extent of the vested interests involved [23].
The role of trees in agricultural production and water catchment has become starkly apparent in Kenya following the now well-known encroachment and degradation of the Mau forests complex. The complex is one of Kenya's five water towers, the others being Mt. Kenya, Aberdare ranges, the Cherangani Hills and Mt. Elgon (http://www.agriculturesnetwork.org/magazines/ east-africa/62-trees-farming/mau-forest-degradation & http:// www.agriculturesnetwork.org/magazines/east-africa/62-treesfarming/ mauforest-degradation#sthash.jcM9RLhc.dpuf). It is also argued that forest complex biodiversity and habitats provide vital ecological services to the country, in terms of water storage; river flow regulation; flood mitigation; recharge of groundwater; reduced soil erosion and siltation; water purification; conservation of biodiversity; and; micro-climate regulation. Through these ecological services, the forests complex supports key economic sectors in Rift Valley and western Kenya, including energy, tourism, agriculture, and industries. The negative impact of the degradation of the Mau forest has been felt most by farmers along the valleys through which rivers originating from the forest drain as well as the tea and tourism industries in the neighbourhood. Production of tea is only possible in the vicinity of tropical forests, a crop which is among the highest earner of foreign exchange in Kenya, requires a cool climate which can only exist in the proximity of established forests such as the Mau complex. The Mara and Ewaso-Ng'iro rivers which feed the Masaai Mara Game reserve and L. Natron (flamingos breeding site), respectively, originate from the Maha.
(http://www.agriculturesnetwork.org/magazines/eastafrica/ 62-trees-farming/mau-forestdegradation). The threat posed by the encroachment and degradation of the Mau over the decade between 1995 - 2006 led to a sustained public outcry that in 2007 compelled the Government to set up an Interim Coordinating Secretariat (ICS) for the Restoration of the Mau Forest. To date the Secretariat has not only managed to halt the encroachment and about 70 per cent of forest destruction, but has also put in place sustainable measures to restore the forests complex in collaboration with Kenyan Forest Service and other development partnersn (http://www.agriculturesnetwork.org/magazines/eastafrica/ 62-trees-farming/mau-forestdegradation))). This initiative was spearheaded by Kenya's Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga in 2008 at the point where more than 100,000 out the total of 416,000 hectares had disappeared. One of the most dramatic manifestations of this destruction was that the then newly constructed multimillion shilling Sondu Miriu Hydro Electric Project could only achieve 50 per cent of its potential power production (http://www.agriculturesnetwork.org/magazines/eastafrica/ 62-trees-farming/mau-forestdegradation))).
Restoration of degraded soil calls for the application of certain management and conservation measures and the undertaking of much needed precautions. Measures such as contour cultivation, tied ridging, terracing, strip cropping, dense vegetation and planting of cover crops, mulches, fast growing trees, selection of proper crop rotation, quick growing species and integrated cropping system, provision of alternative fuel sources, check structures, protected watersheds, proper land preparation and ploughing, application of fertilizer, amendments and organic manures and drainage systems are quite often mentioned as the techniques which help to protect and improve the land [25]. Soil and water conservation programs have gained recognition in the world as a means of water management. In the 1970 and 80's, much emphasis in Kenya was on soil erosion control by structures such as gabions to convey and direct runoff away from agricultural land. Soil and water conservation, however, is now embraced as a tool for the management of soil and water land resources in order to satisfy the needs of the land users through sustained agricultural production [26].
About 80% of Kenya's land mass is ASAL and supports 35% human and 50% livestock populations [26]. The masses are poor and depend on relief food supply for survival. To improve production systems, the ministry of Agriculture through National Soil and Water Conservation Program (NSWCP) in Soil and Water Conservation Branch [27,28] initiated the soil and water management activities. These entailed water conservation, water harvesting and water management. These activities increases the amount of water stored in the profile by use of bench terraces, tied ridges, fallow, contour fallows, mulching, rotations, mixed cropping and conservation tillage techniques as well as soil fertility improvement practices. Water harvesting, the collection and concentration of runoff was for the production of crops, trees, fodder and pasture establishment [28] and also for domestic and livestock purposes. The term harvesting is used instead of water conservation or water management. Water management is the efficient or economic management of available water in agriculture, and use of subsurface and surface resources in agricultural production. In broad terms, it encompasses conservation, harvesting, control, regulation and use of water in agriculture.
In Kenya, the severity of soil erosion was realized as early as the 1920s. In an attempt to arrest the situation, compulsory terracing schemes were introduced in the 1940s, but they were unpopular because the benefits were unclear to the local people. Some techniques developed during this period were and are effective but the fact that they were based on enforced communal work meant that soil conservation was bitterly resented by the local people [29,30]. Many terraces fell into disrepair around the time of independence (1961) and indeed the programs catalyzed resistance and armed struggle against the colonial regime [31,32]. By 1961, the relative proportions that were terraced in Kangundo- Matungulu-Mbiuni in Agro-ecological zone 3 (high potential land) and Masii in zone 4 (semi-arid upland) were essentially the same as those of 1948. After independence however, terracing was renewed voluntarily and farmers began to construct them within a few years of opening new land, even in the newly settled areas of Makueni (drier, warmer and lower zone 4 and 5 settled after 1945), where average slopes were less steep. Un-terraced arable land had been virtually eliminated in all three areas by 1978 where significant progress was made between 1961 and 1978, when arable area was itself growing rapidly due to increased population. Terrace construction continued in the 1980s, and was promoted by the Machakos Integrated Development Program and by 1980, erosion on arable land was considered to be under control. The problem was, however, only beginning to be solved on grazing land.
Little conservation happened immediately after independence in 1963, until a new soil and water conservation campaign began in the 1970s. This campaign started up just at the time when people were becoming increasingly concerned about the future of their farmlands. People were now anxious to listen to advice, and were ready to participate in conservation activities, where slopes were steep and erosion rate high due to unstable soil structure. Erosion was worsening due to the expanding cropped area while draught spells regularly affected yields, especially maize. Enforced conservation did not work in colonial times but in the 1970s people were ready to respond to new campaign as they envisaged accrued benefits to their efforts. This implied that awareness and communal participation in decision making bore fruits that were lacking in pre-colonial times,Machakos has the reputation for being the district with the best soil and water conservation in Kenya [29]. The national conservation project was initiated in1974 under Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) sponsorship where field work in Machakos district commenced in1979 and was later expanded to the whole country in 1989. At community level, farmer-based soil management practices and mechanical measures have been practiced ever since and have been largely successful, particularly in semi-arid Eastern Kenya, and included Strip cropping, contour farming, ridging, mulching & rotation and physical techniques such as terracing, cutoff drains among others. The main soil and water conservation measures practiced here are grouped into agronomic, soil management and mechanical. Agronomic include increasing soil surface cover, intercropping, contour farming, cover cropping and agro-forestry, increasing soil surface roughness, and increasing both surface depression storage and infiltration. Soil management measures include application of fertilizers, manures, sub-soiling to break the hardpan, buffer strip, crop rotation and drainage while mechanical measures include contouring, ridging and terraces [25]. Field experiments in semi-arid regions of Kenya have shown that soil water conservation techniques can result in increased maize grain yields. The degree of benefit in a particular season is dependent on rainfall amount and distribution [33]. In Meru Central district conservation measures have been undertaken but at a lower scale compared to Machakos District. Agricultural productivity is very high in this humid mountainous area where most farms are for commercial production of wheat, barley, flowers and Asian vegetables. Small scale farmers grow tea as a cash crop. The NSWCP lasted from 1974 to 2000 [34]. In the last 10 years of the program, a catchment approach was emphasized where efforts and resources were concentrated in a catchment for 1 year. Problems and opportunities were identified within the land years in a participatory manner, and subsequent development activities planned. A baseline study found that both human activities and changing environmental conditions contributed to environmental degradation in Meru District. Concerted project interventions were undertaken to protect and sustain the mountain environment in Mt Kenya region. Physical or mechanical soil conservation structures used in this area are permanent features made of earth, stones or masonry. They are designed to protect the soil in the hilly area from uncontrolled runoff or erosion, and retain water where needed. They supplement agronomic or vegetative measures but do not substitute for them. The appropriate type of physical structure to use depends on i) climate and the need to retain or discharge runoff water; ii) farm size; iii) soil characteristic such as texture, depth and drainage patterns; v) availability of an outlet or waterway to discharge excess water; v) availability of labor and, vi) adequacy of existing agronomic or vegetative measures.

Types of Conservation Measures in Kenya

Soil and land management practices such as tillage and cropping practices, directly affect the overall soil erosion problem and solutions on a farm. When crop rotations or changing tillage practices cannot effectively control erosion on a field, a combination of measures might be considered necessary. For example, contour ploughing, strip cropping, or terracing may be considered. The most practiced measures in Kenya and elsewhere involves:- (i) Agronomic such as plant/soil cover, conservation farming methods, contour farming (ii) Vegetative: such as planting barriers (vegetative strips), live fences, windbreaks (iii) Structural: such as Fanya Juu, terraces, banks, bunds, cut off drains, barriers and lastly (iv) Overall management: such as area closures, selective clearing. For more examples and description of the conservation measures refer to sections below depending on Soils and Agro-climatic zonation:

Terraces

Leveled bench terraces and earth banding on existing slopes are common earth structure in Kenya. Sometimes, and especially in the highlands, steps are constructed across hillsides and strips of crop residues are covered with soils dug from above. The resulting incorporation of organic matter increases soil fertility and enhances infiltration [35] through macro porosity as well as increased water retention in soils [36,37]. The fanya juu earth bunding system is now modern tradition in Kenya [38]. The fanya-juu terrace (Plate 8) is designed to trap run-off and suspend sediment. A trench is dug and soil thrown upslope to form an embankment which is very effective in trapping runoff and there is evidence crop performance is increased [33]. The challenge however, is the high labor requirement in their construction and maintenance [39]. Though fanya-juu terracing is laborious, it is well understood by the people of Eastern Kenya, and has shown to be effective. Mwangi [40] observed highest maize yields in terraced compared to all other conservation measures in sloping land. Machakos district has achieved an average 1,000 km of new fanya-juu terraces constructed each year, as well as several hundred kilometers of cut-off drains since the mid-1980s. The conservation campaign has been so effective that it is estimated that 70% of all cultivated land has now been terraced as the farmers, many of whom are women, have recognized the benefits of terracing. Conservation of moisture and also soil has led to better and more reliable crop yields. The remaining are mainly in the lower, drier areas where more attention and campaign should be focused now. A fanya chini is like a fanya juu, except that the soil is put on the lower side of the contour trench, not on the upslope side as in a fanya juu. Fanya chini are used to conserve soil and divert water. The resulting embankment can be used to grow fodder. Fanya chini are easier to make than fanya juu, but they do not lead the formation of a bench terrace over time. They can be used on slopes up to 35%.

Conservation Agriculture in Kenya

There are three major principles on conservation agriculture practised in Kenya: minimal soil disturbance, permanent soil cover and crop rotations (Plate 9a & 9b). Soils under conservation agriculture tend to considerably improve their soil organic matter (SOM) content after applying the technology for several years. SOM can be considered as the most important soil fertility and quality factor influencing other soil properties such as macro porosity, infiltration, water holding capacity or soil structure. In conservation agriculture, only minimal or no soil tillage is applied and involves crop seeding without mechanical seedbed preparation and minimal or no soil disturbance since the harvest of the previous crop [25]. A number of farms are practising minimal tillage through precision farming such as Acacia farm in Athi River and Mr Sessions' farm in Naro Moro. The process involves use of Global Positioning (GPS) to minimize on soil compaction to an efficiency of 99% where deviation from ruts for truck and tractor wheels is less than 1 degree. The farm traffic uses same axle size and moves on same position season by season during farm operations to minimize compacting the whole land area. The crop residues after harvest are all returned to the farm where they decompose and add to the organic carbon pool. This has the added advantage of holding more moisture after rains especially in these ASALs and improving soil friability and resilience. Yields have been observed to increase tremendously in these low rainfall areas and a promise to food security in the region.

Link to This Year In KPOP - 2018

Thank You!

I'm sure we would all like to look back on 2019 in kpop with full hearts, but it has been a tough one, hasn't it? It's a jarring experience to even read the top of this post. As a subreddit, we've continued to grow in leaps and bounds, but some of the number stats for certain months are heavy with implications of the scandals and tragedies we became all-too-familiar with this year. As moderators, we did the best we could to manage these challenges, to keep the community informed, to honor the precious artists we lost, and to brace ourselves for the broader public attention that came to our little spot on the internet as a result. Through all of this, our team has succeeded some and failed some and did what we could to adjust to a much larger scale of activity. It has been a learning experience, to say the least.
There is, of course, still plenty to celebrate in our community. We reached two major milestones. Our 10 year anniversary passed in July and we hit 400,000 subscribers soon after in August. In Reddit's official 2019 Year in Review we were the 3rd most active music subreddit on the site and the 2nd most active per genre.
But if you want to see the best of us, it isn't in our numbers or milestones. It's in every community member who updated the wikis, every participant in thoughtful discussions, generated by clever or important prompts, every helpful translation, every carefully crafted feature that requires so much work behind-the-scenes, every offer of support or comfort to a fellow user struggling with all the heavy news 2019 brought in, and in so many other diverse and lovely ways. We'd like to thank each and every one of you for contributing so much positive content and energy to our community all year.
As K-Pop gains more global attention, we need you more than ever to help keep this place both lively and friendly. It's a new decade! Let's make it a better one! We wish you a 2020 with fully-charged electronics, bops aplenty, and all the dreamiest comebacks!

2019.11.03 12:58 mamsrevenge Psycko Mil tries ruin our relationship, backfires horrible for her.

Trigger warning(mental health issue)
sevral years ago i was playing this online game.I want realy social due to my backstory and my own parents and their friends.
a bit of context/prestory.
my goal was to manage stay afloat til my kids coud take care of themself and then end it.I was so damaged due to the violence i went trou and trusted noone.
I had alot of online friends and that was enough,my kids was evrything for me and my whole life.
I played with my online friends and had fun, even if i go under the term tecknical handicapped and not realy good with games or pcs and so on.
I was chatting alot with people and this one guy attached himself to me.He was around my age funny and wery understanding. Its easy talk to people you cant see. To make long story short he dug under my wall instead of breaking trou it. and ended up coming to visit. He also had a lot of bagage and a mother from hell as he said.
Turned out he had lied on his age and was quite younger then me. He still came over even if i said no. Stubborn English twat. He refused give up on dating me. He brought his dad along and his dad was fine with him dating me. As he said whatever makes you happy son.
But his mother wasnt happy. She tried her best stop him from moving country, but failed.
my fiancee said it wasnt because she missed him,but more she lost controll over him.
She came visiting sevral times and things seemed fine. She edmitted to not having the best relationship due to that she had a drinking problem before but was trying so hard to mend their relationship.
She seemed so sincere and nice and hurting. I convinced my hubbie to try give her a chanse since she maybe realy had changed.
He didnt belive it at all but said ok.
one visit a year he coud cope with. It went ok for sevral years, she was so nice to bouth me and the kids and him.
It was small stuff ofc like when he got laid off work due to downsizing she fixed him a job in England to try make him come back but he stayed.
then came last visit.OMG it was bad...
i totally woke up and saw her true coulors.
She always knew what he liked best and took over the kitchen. SHE was going to make the food. I politly asked if she wanted help with something like pealing potatoes or so on. She was so nice and said no she managed and for me to just go chill and have a cig or something.
Then my daughter came out fuming,(might not be completly right but ill try my best remember the conversation)
EM is psycko biatch
D is my daughter
H is hubbie
Me is me

D- Mum EM is in kitchen and she was saying bad stuff about you.
Me-what?
D-she is complaining how helpless you are and she said "your mother cant even crack and egg properly"
I calmed her down told her she isnt staying much longer just let it slide til she is gone.
Then hubbie came out,he had been out of the house walking the dogs.
H- what happend?
Me-what you mean?
H-why are my mother in the kitchen crying?
H-she claims you are using her as a slave, making her do evrything and not helping at all.
i just facepalmed and told him what she had said and he nodded as he said jupp that sounds about right to me.
Then he gave me the i was right and told you so look.
I hate confrontations so i wanted let it slide til she was gone.
Fat chance for that.
Hubbie called her out on her bullshit and manipulations and forced me to confront her.
He stood there leaned against the wall with a evil grin as he set the stage, called his mother over and asked her repeat it all in front of me # days before her frigging ticket back to England. URRRG...

EM- Sobbing wiping fake tears
EM- i i i just wanted have a break and a cig to but but buhuuu she demanded me to wash the oven and make dinner and sob sob didnt even offer to stir the pot while i had a break....sob fake tears......
I stood there not even beliving my own ears that she had turned totally and actually lied right out in my face.
Explotion and red rage hit my brain.
Me-What the everliving frick are you saying....
Me-you hippocrit.YOUR LYING.
As my anger rose up i finally managed stand up for myself and i shoued in her face and called her a lier.
Me- YOU SENDT ME OUT OF THE KITCHEN AND TOOK OVER.ITS MY FRIGGING HOUSE AND YOUR GONNA STAND THERE AND LIE?AND TALK SHIT ABOUT ME TO MY KID.yOU FRIGGING BIATCH.
The look on her face, her eyes glowed with hatred as she placed herself so my hubbie coudnt see her, while she still kept up the act sobbing even more.
My hubbie stood there behind her, smiling satisfied and then spoke
H-Mum wife is now going to watch the food and me and you are going for a walk.
I was shaking in anger but also scared of what she woud say to him when i wasnt there.
My fearswas not justified.i coud hear them talk while they was walking.
I coud hear hubbie shouting at her even when they was halfway trough the village.
H-HOW DARE YOU ACT LIKE THAT.SHE IS THE ONLY REASON I EVEN GAVE YOU A CHANSE.YOUR JUST HERE TO STEAR UP A SHITSHOW THAT I HAVE TO DEAL WITH AFTER YOU leave. YOU BETTER BEHAVE THE LAST DAYS OR I WILL KICK YOU OUT AND YOU WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS COUNTRY AGAIN.
She did behave but managed get in som snarky remarks when hubbie was out.saying it was all my faulth that she woudnt be able to visit her darling baby again because of me.upon were i replied ofc she coud visit as long as i didnt have to see her. I woud rather rent a cabin and go on vacation then see her come flying on her broom.
After the visit we got told she tried tell the rest of his family what a hag i was. She had also taken pictures about how dirty we had it in our house. I laughed my head off when his dad told us she actually had pulled off the cap of the bottom of the shower and taken pictures underneath the shower.pulled up the washer etc and taken pictures behind to show how filthy it was.We do wash there but not like we pull out evrything and do it evry week.
after hearing that i blocked her on all social medias.i felt sorry for her earlier,so i had added her so she atleast coud see pictures of her son on my social medias. He went no contackt with her and so did i.But found out she is stalking my social medias trough other peoples accounts. So when she wants something she is sending ME messages from other peoples accounts.....
sorry for long post and any grammar errors, but english isnt my first language.
tldr-mil fake sobs how i use her as slave to break up the relationship, backfires so now she stalks my social medias.

2019.10.27 22:29 Opulation $75 off Stitch Fix & My Experience + Q&A

https://www.stitchfix.com/invite/bpfndh8gxf?pbid=6012927&sod=i&som=s
Hey, guys! I posted here before with my experience and a $50 off coupon, but I recently got the $75 off to share, so I wanted to give the better offer if anyone wanted to give it a go. I kept most of my original experience written, but any additions I made since I’ve thought of them now are marked by an *.
StitchFix is the only subscription box I use so far, but I have learned a LOT about it, so I feel confident telling people about how it all works, and what to expect.
The Basics:
Yep, when the stylist starts “styling” your box and preparing to send it out, they draft the $20 fee from your card/bank account. It’s hard to know when this will be, but usually a safe bet, at least a week before your box’s deadline date to arrive. This $20 fee is not a fee as long as you purchase at least one item in the box. If you purchase anything, the $20 is put toward that purchase. So when you check out, you pay $20 less, because you already paid that $20.
However, if you don’t want anything in the box, SF keeps the $20. Making it a “gamble” at first, for sure. I never personally had any issues, I found stuff right away that I liked. It might have been luck, but you fill out a really in-depth style profile talking about weight, height, sizes, what to send, what not to send, what styles you like, what you don’t, etc. Then you have a note on the account you can write anything in, like mine says “NO denim, no jumpsuits or rompers, Edgy styles = fave”, that sort of thing. You also get a note with each box you set to be sent, where you can put exactly what you’re looking for for that particular box. So usually I’ll say something like “Going on a cabin trip away! Look at my Pinterest board for ideas, but I’m thinking fun printed shorts, sandals, flow-y tops?” Or whatever you want to say. You also get the option to customize the box, so if you’re like me, you only need clothes, not the accessories. So I have options in my style profile to put Handbags, Jewelry, and Scarves as a Never Send, or whatever combination I just do not need or want.
I think it’s worth noting as well that I have never had a bad interaction with customer service. When I got my first box, I used their size chart but found that it was definitely a size too big and I couldn’t buy anything in the box, or exchange them for smaller sizes, so I talked to customer service and they sent me a new box in the right sizes free of charge, I lost nothing. Or once, I received a dress that was so taller than I was, so I couldn’t get the Buy all 5, get 25% off of everything discount. I emailed customer service saying that my stylist must not have seen the dress was taller than I was and that I couldn’t purchase it, even if I wanted to. They gave me 25% off the four items I bought in this case. So even if you run into issues, the customer service will definitely take care of you. *They have also made sure to pay attention their customers. Once I extended a checkout because of an unexpected death, and they sent me a card with their condolences. They have also sent flowers and such to other clients congratulating on new jobs, etcetera. So it’s a nice touch.
As I noted above, they send you 5 items. If you buy all 5, you get 25% off the whole order.
*Also, StitchFix will price match. So, they actually have specific Stitch Fix only brands that can’t be price-matched because they’re not sold anywhere else, but they also use plenty of other brands, such as Calvin Klein, Kate Spade, etc. They try to custom make the item’s name to make it harder to find online, but the brands stay the same, so if you find your item in your box for cheaper online, you just have to email customer service with the link, and they will price match you. There are some rules to this, so I believe it can’t be on a special sale, and it must be available in your size. Still a nice bonus if you’re willing to take the time to look, but I don’t typically because I use this service for convenience and less time having to shop.
It is also worth noting that from what I understand, the stylists only get 15 minutes per client. Meaning they have to review your profile, pick out items, and write you a note about the items they picked in those 15 minutes. This means that you should find a stylist to keep. If anyone even seems like they read your notes and tried, I would keep requesting them (they let you keep the same stylist at checkout), because they’ll start to memorize your style and needs of you’re a recurring customer for them, meaning they have more time to look for clothes you’d like instead of feeling rushed. I’ve stuck with my second stylist all this time, and she has really learned me. It’s not a 5 out of 5, always, I’m normally shooting for a 2-3 out of 5, but we understand each other and she knows what to look for and I hardly have issues. So stylist swap at your leisure, but remember that the more time they get to know you, the better the service will be.
You can link a Pinterest board in your style profile on the app for the stylist to review. I keep a board that will say Fix#1: Cabin Trip or whatever the box is for, and I put no more than 25 items on it, so they can scan it quickly and effectively. Ideally you want to pin Stitch Fix items, that seems to be the most helpful in getting items you like.
They have put up new services as well. One is an “inspiration board” which is kind of like Pinterest, but in the Stitch Fix website itself, so they offer you styles to pin to your Inspiration Board for your stylist. Another is that they now allow you to buy items you’ve already bought in different sizes and colors, meaning you get more of your favorites, or if you lose weight, you can buy it in a new size! *They now also have an option to “shop your looks”. So basically, they always let you view your past purchases to keep track, but now they have a feature where items that they think goes well with your purchases are all put into a cohesive “look”. You click on each item in the look to view price, detail, etc, and you can choose to purchase that item directly instead of in a Fix. I believe you get free returns with this option as well! It’s a really exciting idea for me, as it lets me have a little control with shopping now, too. These “looks” refresh every day as far as I can tell.
There is also an exclusive pass called the Style Pass. This is nice. You pay $49, but it is a credit to anything you next buy. It gives you free fixes for 12 mos, and can be renewed. No more $20 styling fee. I got it by switching from auto-sent boxes to scheduling when the boxes sent myself and letting them know when they asked why that it was more convenient for me to do it this way, especially with monetary constraints, unless I had something like the Style Pass, because then I wouldn’t have to worry about the $20 fee. Later, I received the email for it. Some people just get it. I don’t really know the formula. But something to possibly look forward to if you love it.
As for average cost? I have my stuff set as low as possible and I normally pay $40 an item. Sometimes a little lower than that, you can get $28-38 items, but they’re definitely on the higher end, making the buy 5 discount really nice, or giving yourself a budget. I give my stylist a budget sometimes. I tell them I want the whole box to cost $200 or whatever and they almost always come through. *An example of how nice the buy 5 discount can be, is that I recently got a fix that totaled $331. If I had bought everything, and I almost did, it totaled $248 after discount.
For anyone who likes things a bit more upscale, they also have Luxe, which is very expensive, designer clothing you can receive if you say so in your stylist profile, when you sign up. *They also offer petite AND maternity clothing. There is also a men’s line!
Feel free to ask any questions!
